SPECTRUM 2015

I attended Spectrum Fantastic Art Live again this year and it was my best Spectrum experience so far! I had a great time and many great conversations with various people and artists- I hope we can continue to talk online, either through e-mail or various other social media websites.

Here's where to find me:

Facebook (though it's about as dead as this blog)

and of course, my e-mail:

Hope to hear from you soon!

One huge update

wow, i need to get a little better at posting on blogger, huh? i'll start off with some illustrations i finished recently and then get into some personal work i'm very excited about.

i was given the opportunity to re-draw a project from my last semester at KCAI. this class promises our illustrations will be published in a book, thrown together with the writings of students from UMKC. my topic was rivers and casinos in kansas city. i drew a spot illustration and a map with kansas city's two rivers and several casinos. unfortunately, i'm not a huge fan of the map as a whole, but i can show the part i do like about it:

and now for a long list of sketches i've had piled away over the year. i'll start with the dragons first. i had a few months last year i really got into creating a variety of dragons before making my daenerys piece. i wanted to make dragons that didn't look like the kind of dragons you'd see in a game of thrones piece, but i explored other dragons in the process. i'd love to make a bestiary some day but i need even more dragons before that's possible- not really a problem, though. dragons are good, dragons are fun.

kind of on the same theme of dragons, monsters! or more, really, monster people. bat girl is apart of a band of monster high school teens. she's the lead vocalist and a band influence, probably. the other is from a while ago, i made a blog with a few friends. the topic was girls who transform into monsters. i've been meaning to revisit this idea, or at least, my portion of this idea.

aaaaannnddd some more october-themed character concepts, a celestial witch and her young apprentice. witch needs a personality make-over, for sure.

as for my recent brainstorming, i tone it down quite a bit from the usual. over the summer i watched a lot of sports anime. yeah, i know. i thought it would be fun to make my own characters over my new love of a shounen anime genre, so i made characters based off of my high school volleyball team. here they are, the first ever drafts of them. there's a lot of change on the way but it's a lot of fun!

well, here it is. a dump of my favorite ideas from the past year or so. hoping to be back soon with more fleshed out ideas based on these topics, i'm still fond of them all. thanks for checking out this long-winded post and oh! have a happy halloween!!

house baratheon

old lines, new colors. part of the game of thrones house poster series i did with tomer hanuka during my senior year at kcai. he mentored, i drew.

this is the subtle-but-not-subtle house baratheon poster, finally colored to my own liking
